Cameron Bahar joined Huawei in December 2012 as SVP and Global CTO of Huawei Storage. Cameron is responsible for architecture, strategy and technology direction of advanced enterprise and cloud storage platforms. Cameron also runs the US R&D Storage Lab focused on innovation and next generation technologies. Cameron has over 25 years of systems software development and deep expertise in distributed operating systems, parallel databases and data center management.
Previously, Cameron served as Hitachi Data Systems CTO and Chief Strategist. Cameron joined HDS through the acquisition of ParaScale. At HDS, Cameron led the technology direction and strategy on scale-out storage platforms, distributed file systems and Big Data analytics and contributed to the overall file and cloud storage product strategy.
Previously, Cameron founded ParaScale and served as its CTO and VP Engineering until it was acquired by HDS in August 2010. At ParaScale, Cameron developed and released a private cloud storage and computing software platform for the enterprise to address Big Data workloads including Hadoop MapReduce. Earlier, Cameron led design, deployment, and operation of Scale8s distributed Internet storage service that provided storage for digital content owners including MSN and Viacom/MTV. At the HP Enterprise Systems Technology Lab, he developed system software for disk volume management, data security, and utility data center management. At Teradata, Cameron developed extensions to UNIX to allow the massive parallel processing required by the Teradata database, the world’s largest and fastest distributed RDBMS. Cameron started his career at Locus Computing, a pioneer in distributed operating systems, single-system image clustering, and distributed file systems.
